Shougang Targets 2.2-2.3 Million Tons of High-End Electrical Steel by 2025

Since its launch in 2022, the Specialized Line Project for Electrical Steel in Shougang's new energy vehicles sector has maintained smooth production, witnessing a steady increase in output.

The production capacity of non-oriented high-grade electrical steel for new energy vehicles has reached 550,000 tons. The company's high-performance oriented electrical steel project commenced operation smoothly this year, contributing an additional 90,000 tons to the thin-specification oriented electrical steel production capacity.

The construction of a new high-end electrical steel heat treatment project includes a continuous annealing pickling line and two continuous annealing lines, set to commence operations progressively in 2024, further enhancing the production capacity of the company's high-grade electrical steel products.

As of the first three quarters of 2023, the company's high-end electrical steel products accounted for 64% of the total output. It is projected that by 2025, the company's total electrical steel production will reach 2.2-2.3 million tons, with high-end products accounting for over 70% of the total output.
